Third and Fourth for Scots Teams in the Austrian Mountains

This year’s Kaisermarathon in the Austria's Tirol doubled up as the World Mountain Running Association’s Long Distance Challenge. In a good showing by Scotland, on Sunday October 10, the men's team won bronze and the women were one place behind earning fourth.

Last year's WMRA Challenge winner, Jethro Lennox (33), finished tenth in a time of 3:22:14 and led Scotland's men to the team bronze medal, behind Kenya and England. Alasdair Anthony (32) was a minute behind Lennox in twelfth with 3:23:13, with Kenny Richmond (40) finished 16th in 3:28:30, Simon Peachey (28) came in 20th in 3:31:37 to ensure third place with a total time of 10:13:58. Paul Raistrick (36) finished 23rd in 3:33:58.

The women's team came fourth, with Claire Gordon (33) finishing 13th with a time of 3:37:52, Iona Robertson (29) was just behind her in 14th with 3:59:03, Andrea Priestley (44) finished 22nd with 4:17:54 to ensure fourth place, with a total time of 12:14:25. Megan Mowbray (35) earned 24th place in 4:20:36.


Switzerland’s Marc Lauenstein won the Kaisermarathon with a time of 3:06:20, almost six minutes in front off second placed Jonathan Wyatt of New Zealand with 3:12:05. Finishing exactly two minutes later, Ricky Lightfoot from England earned third place with 3:14:05. Only a few seconds away from the medal winners was Raymond Kemboi Chemungo from Kenya who led his team to victoty with a time of 3:14:51.

In the women’s race last year’s winner Anna Pichrtova (Czech Republic) successfully retained her title with a time of 3.28.57. Russia's Evgency Danilova put up a strong showing to earn second place in 3:29:23. New Zealand’s Anna Frost claimed third spot finishing in 3:33:20.
