Crichton First Up Doon Hill

Local athlete Andrew Crichton won the very windy Dunbar Doon Hill 10 mile race on Saturday, October 4. Andrew was the only runner to complete the, slightly changed, course in less than one hour, recording an impressive time of 59:35. Gala Harrier Katy Anderson won the women's race, with a time of 1:12:08, more than six minutes ahead of her closest rival.

Portobello's Moray Paterson earned second spot in 1:03:33 and Edinburgh A.C's Stuart Macleod ensured a one, two, three for east coast clubs, finishing third with a time of 1:04:23.

In the women's race the first three were separated by more than twelve minutes, with Katy Anderson's Gala club mate Jane Chalmers earning second place in 1:18:15, more than six minutes ahead of Lothian's Marie Storrie, who placed third in 1:24:56.

Rhona Penman, who only started running a year ago, finished in 56th place with a time of 1:33:25, told SCOTTISH RUNNING GUIDE: "It was a great race, on a scenic and very interesting route. The gale force winds made for an even more testing challenge, particularly at the top of Doon Hill".

A total of 75 runners completed the annual race, with local vet Keith Mills closing the race in 2:17:00.
