Three in a Row for Matheson at Lithgae
29 SEP2009
Super Vet Fiona Matheson won the Linlithgow 10k women's race for the third time in succession on Sunday, September 27. Shettleston Harrier Paul Sorrie followed up his fine performance on Saturday at Houston by winning the ever-popular West Lothian event.
Men's Race
On a challenging course with a couple of long climbs, and into the wind towards the end, bandana wearing Sorrie cruised to victory in 32:45. More than two minutes ahead of his closest rival, Arbroath Vet Max Colligan, who earned second spot with 34:47. Bellahouston Road Runner Mark Johnston won third prize with a time of 34:57.
Women's Race
Although Matheson's time was slower than in previous years she still managed to win the women's race with ease, finishing in 37:37, more than five minutes ahead of second placed Lyndsey Fraser who crossed the line in 42:34. Fiona Ramsay earned third prize with 44:04.
Mad?
Pitreavie's David Barry finished in 25th place in 39:36. A remarkable achievement given that he had taken full advantage of the afternoon start by also competing in the morning's East Neuk 10k, where he finished 12th with a time of 37:04.
Jennene Carrol closed the race, finishing in 491st place in a time of 1:16:43.
