Turner and Turner Triumph at Anster

28 SEP2009

Robert Turner

Only seven days after earning a new marathon PB in the heat of Berlin, Harmeny's Robert Turner won the somewhat cooler East Neuk 10k. Boab's namesake but no relation, Judith Turner (Carnegie Harriers), who clocked a PB at last weeks Stirling 10k, won the Anstruther women's race.

Some 255 runners completed the East Neuk 10K, an out and back race over a challenging, mixed terrain, course with a few kilometres on rutted and stony farm roads and a few hills thrown in for good measure.

Men's Race

Robert Turner continued his fine form, which saw him complete the Real Berlin Marathon with an impressive chip time of 2:31:13, by placing first in Fife with a time of 33:44. Also enjoying a run of good form is Pitreavie's Super Vet Jeff Farquhar who finished in second place with 34:10. Unattached Joszef Farkas earned third spot with 34:27.

Women's Race

Judith Turner finished just two seconds behind her Stirling time to clock 39:45 and win the women's race ahead of Wee County Harrier's Super Vet Beryl Junnier who earned second place in 40:07. Edinburgh AC's Joanne Thom finished exactly one minute behind her older rival, to clinch third spot with 41:07.

Race winner, Robert Turner told SCOTTISH RUNNING GUIDE "It was very windy, I got to the turn in 17:15, having put a lot of effort in to get there against the wind. My legs started to tire, obviously still feeling the effects of Berlin from last Sunday, I just managed to hang on in the second half to come back in 16:29 and take first place. I got a great wee goodie bag for winning, including a bottle of wine three bottles of beer, a box of Roses and three Mars Bars!"
