12 SEP2009

Four Kilbarchan AAC youngsters made their mark at the Glasgow parkrun. Ross Toole was the star of the day as the Renfrewshire runners took one, two, three and five with a, slightly older, Harmeny AC runner taking fourth spot. It was completely different in the women's event though as Super Vet Fiona Maxwell of Shettleston Harriers earned first spot ahead of three other 40+ runners in second, third and fifth places.

Men's Race

Parkrun first timer, Ross Toole (20-24) was first over the line, in a superb time of 15:44 his even younger club mates Scott Hawkings (15-19) and Paul Leckie (15-19) finished in second and third places with 16:02 and 16:08 respectively. Three times winner Rob Turner (35-39) took fourth in 16:36, narrowly beating the fourth Kilbarchan youngster Nicholas Moore (20-24) who finished in 16:38 in his debut parkrun.

Women's Race

In her first outing at the Glasgow parkrun Fiona Maxwell (45-49) crossed the line in 19:06, more than a minute ahead of Bellahouston Road Runner Shona Donnelly (40-45) in 20:15 and Bellahouston Harrier Erica Christie (50-55) in 20:21. Unattached youngster Marjon Ruijter (20-24) improved her course PB by 47 seconds to place fourth in 21:01 ahead of Adrienne Gerrard (45-50) who finished in 21:39 in her debut parkrun.

Better Weather

A total of 234 runners completed in the 40th Glasgow parkrun on Saturday, September 12 in a sun kissed Pollok Park, where some of them had ran through as part of last week's rain soaked Great Scottish Run.
