In a field of over 200 runners, Kilbarchan AAC's Paul Leck (MU20) was the first athlete across the finish line on Saturday August 29. The youngster completed his first run on the testing course in an impressive 16:32. The first female athlete to cross the line was also a first timer, Fusion Triathlon Club's Shona Girdwood (VW35), who completed the event in a time of 19:56.
Behind Leck was Kirkintilloch teenager Adam Peters who improved his course PB by 19 seconds to earn second place with 16:58, whilst travelling a little further to the Pollok Park popular event was James Raven of Chester-le-Street, who finished third in 17:00.
In the Women's event Girdwood finished ahead of Glasow parkrun regulars Bellahouston Harrier Erica Christie (VW50) who finished, just two seconds outside of her course PB, in 20:06 to claim second place and Shona Donnely (VW40) of Bellahouston Road Runners, who finished in third place with 20:22.
Another first time parkrunner, unattached Iain Kennedy (MV45), who finished in 61st place with a time of 21:33, told SCOTTISH RUNNING GUIDE "I loved every minute of it, this was my first Glasgow Parkrun and I ran my best ever time as a vet and it was free! Not the fastest course but felt good on the hilly bits. Beats crawling through the logjam at the start of the Great Scottish Run for £29!"
