Runners Prepare To Be First Pasta Finish Line

10 AUG2012

Pasta party runners

With less than a month to go until this year's Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run, Glasgow Running Network in association with organisers Glasgow Life is hosting a pasta party. The event aims to spur participants on during the final stage of training for Scotland's largest mass participation sporting event, and is open to anyone aged 15 and over.

The party takes place at Di Maggio's on Tuesday 28 August from 6.30pm. The fun gets underway with a 2-mile easy jog through the city centre before dinner and an evening of entertainment, which includes a free massage and prizes up for grabs.

Louise Morgan at Glasgow Life's Running Network, explained: "For many people taking part in and completing the Great Scottish Run is a life-long, fantastically fulfilling ambition. But ahead of the race some runners can be understandably nervous. Many have a few questions, which if answered by those who've already run the race, can make the difference between a good and a great experience. The pasta party is a wonderful forum to meet like-minded individuals and answer any queries. The atmosphere is definitely one of fun; it is a party after all! Even the run will be a relaxed jog as all the hard work in training should be done by then. The evening is a time to enjoy the run up to the race and look forward to the day itself."

The pasta party provides those new to the race with an opportunity to learn a little more about what to expect, pick up some top tips and have any questions they may have answered ahead of the main event on Sunday 2 September. It also offers those who have been training with friends of differing abilities the chance to meet someone at their level to partner on the day.

The party costs £10 (£8 for Running Network members), which includes dinner, dessert and a free T-shirt. To book, call 08000 270 470. Or to enter the Great Scottish Run go to the event website
