Millar Sets New Record at Local Race

David Millar on the road to victory in Irvine

Congratulations to Irvine’s David Millar who won his local five mile road race on Monday July 20. David finished in a time of 25:13, taking an amazing 52 seconds off of the course record. Girvan’s Kerry Liam Wilson finished in second place and took five seconds off of his PB with a time of 25:37. Scott Hawkins of Kilbarchan AAC claimed third position in 26:28. Ayr’s Toni McIntosh won the women’s race in a time of 29:22. Speaking to SCOTTISH RUNNING GUIDE Kerry Wilson said: “I’m well chuffed with my time and result. It was a good route and well organised and marshalled by Irvine AC, so hats off to them.”

Men's Results

Kilmarnock's James Wales was the first Male Under 20 in a time of 29:08.

Tony McKnight M40 27:29 5th
Donald Petrie Kilbarchan M50 28:31 12th
Jim McMillan M60 33:58 49th

Team Prize

Millar's fine performance helped Irvine AC in winning the Men's Team Prize.

Women's Results

Kilmarnock's Laura Cairns was second in the Women's Race in a time of 32:16,
with Westerland's Ellie Homewood third in 32:19.

Irvine's Sarah Munn was the first Female Under 20 in a time of 31:23.

Vet Result

Claire Heasman F35 32:27 42nd

Team Prize

Kilmarnock Harriers won the Women's Team Prize.

 

A total of 79 runners took part in the Ayrshire race.
