Swift Sell Out For Southside Six

22 MAY2012

The Southside Six

After the success of the inaugural event last year, the second Southside Six event on November 4, 2012 has sold out in less than 24 hours. Such was the level of demand surrounding the race, eager participants were quick to show signs of concern when they were unable to register after entries opened on Friday afternoon.

Quickly resolved, the 350 places were snapped up by midday on Saturday (May, 19). The race will see competitors move through six of the most scenic parks on the south side of the city - Kings Park, Linn Park, Rouken Glen Park, Pollok Country Park, Bellahouston Park before finishing with a return to Queens Park - covering a distance of 16 miles.

Race organiser Nick Vaughan told scottishrunningguide.com he was delighted at the interest shown: "We were totally taken by surprise on Friday. our website crashed under heavy demand but once things were running smoothly entries started flying out the door!" Nick continued: "We had thought, given the interest after last year, that maybe half the entries would disappear but by 11am on Saturday it was a sell out. Now we have to spend the next five and a half months making sure the event exceeds the expectations of the runners!"

Even though the race is full, interested participants can put their name on a waiting list. If you want to be part of the day, the organisers are also looking for volunteers, you can contact them on info@southsidesix.org.uk
