Mr and Mrs Beal Win the Edinburgh v Portobello Clash on Barra

This year's Barrathon turned into a two horse race between Edinburgh AC and their local rivals Portobello. The capital's Graham Beal won the race in a time of 1:19:33, followed by Portobello duo Benjamin Kemp and Peter Buchanan. Keeping it in the family Edinburgh's Marietta Beal won the Women's Race in 1:31:07. Hunters Bog Trotters Isabel Knox took second place in 1:32:59, with Edinburgh's Joanne Thom earning third spot in 1:36:08.
Team Race
Edinburgh also claimed the Team Prize with fine performances from Stephen Booth, and Gary Robertson in fourth and fifth spots. Edinburgh's fourth team member Richard Hope capped a great day for the Club finishing in sixth position.
Number of Runners
A total of 137 runners completed the Hebridean half marathon, with local runner Mairi MacNeil closing the race in 3:34:05.
Speaking to SCOTTISH RUNNING GUIDE third woman finisher Jo Thom said: "The race was amazing. Barra is lovely. It's definitely not a race to get a PB in but it is just so pretty and the people on the island are just so lovely."
