Sunday Is Dogday At Mugdock

Canicross runners from across Scotland will be converging on Mugdock Park, Milngavie near Glasgow on Sunday (February 26) for the Cani-Sports Scotland Races. The event includes a 5K feature race, 2K junior run and a bikejor/scooter race. Races start at 10.00am but participants are advised to arrive well before then to prepare for the 'off'.

The first staging of this running with dogs event promises to be an interesting mix of serious competition and fun participation. Prominent competitors are likely to include Stuart Gibson, a fast 5K runner who will be taking part in tandem with Layla, a collie-cross; Harmeny AC's experienced veteran Norma Bone with her black labrador; and Lindsay Cloughley, who organises the Canicross Jog Scotland Group at Whitelees Windfarm at Eaglesham, East Renfrewshire. A good showing is expected of Colin Reid from Glenrothes who runs his border terrier - Mitch at canicross races all over the UK and is Scotland's champion canicross racer.

Organisers promise a unique atmosphere, fantastic prizes and a terrific goody bags. They can take entries on the day (however these are limited and close at 9am).

NEWS UPDATE - Colin Reid and Mitch have opted for a Canix event in England this weekend, however Lindsay Cloughley has confirmed she will be participating in the Scooter class with her Alaskan Malamute Suko.
