A new mobile phone app that lists the top 500 races in the world has included 16 events in Scotland. The app is a digital version of Angela Mudge and Jethro Lennox's book, World's Ultimate Running Races, a comprehensive publication that traces many unknown and challenging events across 101 countries.
In terms of its focus on Scottish events, the book spans from the more popular 35-hour West Highland Way Race to the Ben Kenneth challenge in South Uist, a race that has existed since 1970 and attracts around 30 competitors each year. Other notable entries include the Summer Dim Half Marathon in Shetland and the 10 mile mountain run in Ben Nevis every September.
The app includes a concise description of each event, outlining the course history and providing statistics for the distance, month, terrain and record holders. In addition to the races compiled by Angela Mudge and Jethro Lennox, there are contributions from some of the world's leading runners including Kilian Jornet, Mara Yamauchi and Jonathan Wyatt.
For more information on the app, visit the Aimer Media or Harper Collins websites.
