Rock N Roll Race Reveals Route

6 DEC2011

Rock n Roll Edinburgh

Organisers of Rock 'n' Roll running have revealed the route for their first ever event in Edinburgh. Taking place on Sunday, April 15, the race, which replaced the ADT Edinburgh half marathon, is expected to attract around 7,000 entrants for a unique fusion of music and running.

In contrast to the ADT event, the race will start and finish in Holyrood Park rather than in Musselburgh. The new route takes in some of the city's most scenic views including the Meadows, the Mound, Holyrood Palace, and the Scottish Parliament.

The final stretch travels along the Royal Mile with a glimpse of Arthur's Seat in the background. Runners will also enjoy views of Edinburgh Castle while running downtown, and the Firth of Forth as they pass along the seaside stretch on Portobello Promenade.

Race director Mike James commented on the revamped course: "We've designed the new route to show off the very best of Edinburgh - lots of our runners will be in the city for the first time and we wanted the route to incorporate its most scenic views."

Since hosting its first event in San Diego in 1998, the Rock 'n' Roll marathon series has developed into a 25 location programme that boasts around 450,000 participants each year.

Registration for the race is now open and potential entrants can take advantage of the early bird rate of £32 until the end of the month. For more information, visit the event website.
