  • Edinburgh Ready For New Hero

    Edinburgh Marathon men

In 2005, Edinburgh marathon witnessed two course records that remain intact. That year, Zachary Kihara of Kenya overtook defending champion John Mutai in the final 100 yards to complete the race in 2:15:26, whilst Russian runner Zinaida Semenova blew the female field away with a finishing time of 2:33:36. With the event celebrating its 10th staging on Sunday and weather conditions looking likely to be conducive for fast times, the respective records of Kihara and Semenova may just be in jeopardy.

    23 MAY

    Camperdown parkrun

Camperdown parkrun made an impressive debut to the Scottish running scene last Saturday with 106 runners taking part in the 5k event. On a challenging route, Dundee Hawkhill Harriers' Craig Love secured victory in 18:56 with Kelly-Anne Speight of Finn Valley AC leading the women home in 20:38. Adhering to the adage that it never rains at parkrun, the 100 plus competitors were greeted with dry conditions and the occasional ray of sunshine on Saturday morning. Taking place in Camperdown Country Park, the 5k route involves a number of steady climbs before finishing at the wildlife centre.
