Central Scotland and Fife
What do you think of when you think about running in Fife and Central? Firstly great clubs - we focus on Central AC, but the area also is home to Carnegie Harriers, Fife AC and Falkirk Victoria Harriers. Carnegie in particular has made a big impression in recent years, andnot just because they have the brightest colours of a running club in Scotland! The inclusive approach that they have developed has been imitated around the country to the benefit of runners of all abilities.
Secondly, if you are a runner in Fife or Central you have easy access to some wonderful countryside - the Lomonds Hills, the East Neuk paths and the Lochore Meadows Country Park are highlights in Fife, while runners in Central can choose from some great canal paths, local parks like Callendar (Falkirk) and Plean Country Park (near Stilring), and the Ochils and Trossachs. There is speculation that Callendar Park will be the location for Scotland's fouth parkrun, which will be a big boost for running in the area.
Lots of good races too, Dunfermline-based John Martindale has done an outstanding job in developing the Dunfermline Festival of Running with its feature half marathon.
